CAIRNS, Charles Alexander: November 4, 1939 – March 5, 2012

Charles Alexander Cairns On Monday, March 5, 2012, Charles Alexander Cairns unexpectedly went to be with his Lord and Savior while at his homestead property in the Wanham area. Charles will be missed by his wife Caroline, of 46 years; children: Leanne (Lyslie) Koch, Robert (Sandra), Brent (Lisa), Stuart (D.J.); grandchildren: Eric, Brendan, Ashley, Kyle, Sarah, Oren, Nolan, Casey Ray, Morgan and Wyatt; siblings: Nellie Jane Johnson of Wetaskiwin, AB, George (Cathy) of Creston, BC, Gordon Cairns, Lillian (Gordon) Edey of Wetaskiwin, AB, and Dan (Rose) of Grande Prairie, AB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Wilma of Creston, BC. Charles was born in Wetaskiwin, AB, on November 4, 1939 and grew up in Irma, AB. In his twenties he moved to the Peace River country, purchased farmland and married the love of his life Caroline Ann Blonski on August 21, 1965. His adventurous spirit and love of challenge took him from Spirit River, AB, to Armstrong, BC (1980), Grandforks, BC, Greenwood, BC, and back to the Peace River country in 2003. A handyman at heart, Charles farmed, ranched, and drove truck. He loved the outdoors, cutting firewood, camping and long walks. “Pops” will be sadly missed and remembered by his grandchildren for the many campfires, walks, and his quiet love for each one. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
