Charles Albert Roy, 86, of Grande Prairie On Sunday, May 5, 1996, Charles Roy passed away at Mackenzie Place at the age of 86 years. Charles Albert Roy was born May 18, 1909 in Quebec City, Quebec. He married Dorothy Margaret Cooke of Montreal in 1930 and together they raised three children, two sons and one daughter. Charles and Dorothy arrived in the Peace Country in 1981. During this time Dorothy was suffering from Alzheimer's disease and Charles began to lose his eyesight so they decided to move nearer to his daughter. He travelled the route from Pioneer Lodge to the auxiliary hospital every day to see his wife despite the loss of his eyesight. Dorothy passed away in 1986. In his youth Charles was very active in the United Church, serving as an elder and also teaching Sunday School. He also volunteered with youth programming at the YMCA and also with the Y's Men's Club. Charles is survived by his children: Forrest (Veronica) Roy of Montreal; David (Margo) Roy of Grande Prairie; Margot Molstad of Bezanson. He is also survived by his sister Floy D'Aoust of Montreal; two grandchildren: Forrest Molstad of Calgary; Carrie (Ian) Staal of Grande Prairie; one great-grandchild, Timothy Staal. Funeral service for the late Charles Albert Roy will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 1996 at 2:30 p.m. from the Oliver Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vern Begalke officiating. Interment to follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer's Association of Alberta or the CNIB would be greatly appreciated by the family. Dorothy Margaret Roy Mrs. Dorothy Margaret Roy passed away at the Mackenzie Place Auxiliary Hospital, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Wednesday. June 11, 1986 at the age of 80. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, and moved to the Peace River Country in 1941. She is survived by her loving husband Charles; sons, Forrest Roy of Montreal, Quebec, David (Margot) Roy of Grande Prairie., daughter, Margot Molstad of Bezanson, Alberta; 2 grandchildren, Forrest Molstad of Calgary, Alberta, and Carrie (Ian) Staal, of Sexsmith. Funeral services for the late Dorothy Margaret Roy will be held at the Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, on Saturday, June 14, 1986, at 10 a.m, with Rev. Bob Hetherington officiating.
