FRITSMA, Cornelia Sophia: November 4, 1923 - July 2, 2017
Cornelia Sophia Fritsma Our mother Cornelia Sophia Fritsma was finally released from her earthly bonds and joined her husband as well as many friends and relatives that have gone before her. Cornelia was born November 4, 1923 in Zwolle, Netherlands. After having lived through 5 years of war and again they were facing another due to the rising political instability in Europe i.e. Hungarian Revolution in 1956, she and her husband elected to immigrate to Canada in 1957. Cornelia enjoyed a reasonably good life making many friends along her long journey of life. She is survived by sons Gerald (Liz), Wm. (Eunice), Bert (Pam) and Andy (Marianne). She also leaves behind six grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Cornelia was predeceased by her husband Lambert in 2002. Cornelia will be laid to rest in the Glen Leslie Cemetery Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00, with a graveside ceremony for family members as well as anyone else wishing to join them, all are welcome to attend. Following the graveside ceremony there will be a gathering at 12:30 at Mission Heights Church of Christ, 8321 Mission Heights Drive, Grande Prairie. FRITSMA, Lambert John (Bert): March 10, 1923 - June 27. 2002
Lambert John Fritsma (Opa), 79, of Grande Prairie It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and Opa; longtime resident of Grande Prairie. Lambert immigrated from Holland in July 1957 with his wife and four sons. It was his wish to pass away at home in the presence of his family. On Thursday, June 27, 2002, at l l a.m., Lambert passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 79. Lambert will be sadly missed and leaves to mourn his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Cornelia. His sons Gerald (Liz), William (Eunice), Bert (Pam) and Andy (Marianne). His grandchildren Trevor (Gina), Corrine (Chris), Andrea (Cory), Jennifer, Dean and Kimberly, his great-grandchildren Curtis, Camron and Madison. From Holland, sister Ida (Joop), his brothers Gabe (Bep), Gerald (Fred) and Meindert. As well as numerous friends and acquaintances. With his family at his side, Lambert John Fritsma was cremated on the 28th of June at 5 p.m. at Oliver's Crematorium in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
