GIRVAN, Harry: July 25, 1943 - March 7, 1980
Harry Girvan Harry Girvan passed away March 7, 1980, at the age of 37. He was born on July 25, 1943. Harry is the third son of Ralph and Selma Girvan. He lived in Swanson, Sask., until he was five years old and then moved to the Glen Leslie area where his parents still reside He took his schooling at the Somme school until they were bused to Grande Prairie where he took his Grade 8, 9, and 10. Harry farmed with his dad until he was about 18 years old when he bought the Joe Lenes farm in the Goodwin area. He purchased his second quarter of land on the Smoky River Hill in 1970. He and his father continued to farm and raise beef together. Harry is survived by his loving parents Ralph and Selma Girvan; two brothers Roy of Hudson Hope and Lyle of Vancouver: three sisters Jean (Mrs. Hubert Tissington) of Grande Prairie, Lois (Mrs. Bob Dalrymple) of Penticton and Ellen Girvan of Edmonton, 10 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a great number of friends. Funeral service for the late Harry Girvan was held at the Bezanson Hall March 13 with Rev. D'Arcy Lade of Forbes Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment followed in Glen Leslie Cemetery. GIRVAN, Selma Louise: September 12, 1909 - April 1, 1983
Selma Louise Girvan Selma Louise Girvan passed away at Grande Prairie on Friday, April 1, 1983 at the age of 73 years. She was born at Minnesota, U.S.A. and came to the Glen Leslie area in the spring of 1948, she moved to the Goodwin area in 1982. She is survived by her loving husband Ralph of Debolt; two sons Roy (Helen) of Revelstoke, B.C., Lyle (Linda) of Prince Rupert, B.C., three daughters, Jean (Hubert) Tissington of Grande Prairie, Lois (Bob) Dalrymple of Penticton, B.C., Ellen Girvan of Edmonton, 10 grandchildren, four sisters and one brother. She was predeceased by one son Harry in 1980, and one brother in 1970. Funeral service for the late Selma Louise Girvan will he held at Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, today, April 4, at 2 p m with Rev. Bill Beach officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VON or the charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated. Ralph Leander Girvan Mr. Ralph Leander Girvan passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1983, at the age of 73. He was born at Swanson, Sask., and moved to the Glen Leslie area in 1948, and to the Goodwin area in 1982. He is survived by two sons: Roy (Helen) of Revelstoke, B.C., and Lyle (Lynne) of Prince Rupert, B.C.; three daughters: Jean (Hubert) Tissington of Grande Prairie, Lois (Bob) Dalrymple of Penticton, B.C., and Ellen Girvan of Edmonton; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, and three sisters. He was predeceased by his wife, Selma, in April, 1983, and by one son, Harry, in 1980. Funeral service for the late Ralph Girvan will be held at the Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, on Sat., Dec. 17, 1983, at 1 p.m., with Rev. D'Arcy Lade officiating. Interment to follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alberta Heart Fund, or the charity of one's choice, would be appreciated by the family. Lyle Girvan Lyle Girvan formerly of Grande Prairie passed away in Burnaby, BC January 3, 2016 at the age of 73. He is survived by his children Karen, Jim, Dwayne and grandchildren Caitlyn, Zachary, Kelsey, Grayson, Faith as well as sisters Jean (Tissington), Lois(Dalrymple), Ellen (Girvan) and brother Roy. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Selma and brother Harry. Donations in Lyle's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
