Dina Goff Newell Mrs. Dina Goff Newell passed away at Mackenzie Place, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Saturday, January 28, 1989 at the age of 85. She was born at Bricelyn, Minnesota, U.S.A. She moved from the U.S.A. to Fox Valley, Saskatchewan in 1912, and then to the Grande Prairie area in 1929 faming at Glen Leslie and Bezanson, until her retirement years which were spent in Grande Prairie. She was a member of the United Church. She is survived by 2 sons Gerald (Dianne) Goff of Bezanson, and Lorne (Leta) Goff of Rocky Mountain House, 5 grandchildren, Dennis (Sharla), Jay, Garry (Val), Dave, and Lisa, 3 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, and Lindsay; 3 sisters, Mildred McPhee, Myrtle Fenton, and Geraldine Stark, all of Grande Prairie. She was predeceased by her husband Vern Goff in 1960, and by her second husband Ted Newell in 1981, brothers: Gustav and Sigvald in I918, Marvin Jensen in 1989, and grandson Vern Goff in 1984. Funeral service for the late Dina Goff Newell will be held at the Oliver Funeral Chapel. 10212 102 St., Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Thursday, February 2, 1989, at 2 with Rev Vernon Wishard officiating. Interment to take place at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Lorne Dale Goff Rocky Mountain House, Alberta We are sad to announce that on August 13, 2021, at the age of 82, Lorne Goff (Rocky Mountain House, Alberta), born in Grande Prairie, Alberta passed away. Leta Jean Goff (nee Moon), 63, of Rocky Mountain House We are saddened to announce the passing of Leta Jean Goff. loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and mom. She passed away on April 1, 2001 after a sudden illness. The eldest child of Charles and Pearl Moon. Leta was born October 1, 1937 in Grande Prairie and raised in the Bezanson area. Leta married Lorne Goff, her high school sweetheart on November 7, 1958. They had three loving children. Lorne's career with the Athena Forest Service provided them with the opportunity to live in many Alberta communities where she made many friends and touched many lives. In I986 they moved in Rocky Mountain House, after Lorne's retirement in 1996 they settled on a small ranch in the area. Lela was a devoted mother and grandmother who was most happy when she was surrounded by family and friends. She was the kind of person who never forgot a birthday or special occasion. Lela was called Mama by her children and grandchildren. Children were especially drawn in her warm and caring nature and were always rewarded with a smile and kind words. She is mourned by her devoted husband Lorne; her son Garry, his wife Valand and their children, Ashley, Ryan and Lindsay; her son Dave, his wife Jackie and their son Quintin; her daughter Lisa, her husband Don Schneider and her daughter Elizabeth, brother Grant and his wife Margaret: brother Ross and his wife Theresa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel (10005-107 Avenue) at 11a.m. on Saturday. April 7, 2001. Interment to follow at Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation. Vern Goff Man killed A 20-year-old Bezanson man has been killed in an accident near Tuktoyaktuk on the Beaufort Sea. Vern Goff, son of Gerald and Dianne Goff, died Saturday when the bulldozer he was operating went through the ice. He was employed by Don Pearson Construction of Hythe at the time of the accident. Gerald Dennis Goff, 53, of Bezanson Mr. Gerald Golf, a resident of Bezanson. Alberta, passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, February 1, 1991, at the age of 53. Gerald was born in Grande Prairie, and had lived in the Grande Prairie and Bezanson area all his life. Gerald was well known throughout the Peace Country for breeding and raising Quarter Horses, and made a significant contribution to the betterment and quality of the breed. He is survived by his wife Dianne: and 2 sons: Dennis (Shaela) of Lethbridge, and Jay of Bezanson. Also surviving is his brother Lorne (Leta) of Rocky Mountain House. He was predeceased by his parents: Vern in 1960, and his mother Dina in I988: and by son Vern in 1984. Service tor the late Gerald Goff will be held in the Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, Alberta on Tuesday, February 5, 1991, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Dickson officiating. Interment to follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. SPIERS, Dianne: May 6, 1941 – July 14, 2011 {also on Spiers grave stone page}
Dianne Spiers Honey Dianne Lenore Spiers (Dianne), born May 6, 1941 in Nelson, BC, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Grande Prairie, Alberta, after a determined struggle against cancer. Dianne came to the Peace Country and married Gerald Goff of Bezanson, in 1961. They farmed and raised quarter horses for many years while raising their family of three boys, Vern, Dennis and Jay. Dianne drove a school bus for over 30 years and leaves behind many friends in the bus driving community. A special thanks to Maurice and Barb Powell for their support over the years. Dianne is survived by her sons Dennis Goff (Jennifer) of Lethbridge; Jay Goff of Clairmont; siblings Stan Spiers of Amisk, Alberta; Stuart Spiers and Dorothy Hockett of Quesnel, British Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. As well as her “adopted” daughter Darla Provencal of Sexsmith, Alberta. Dianne will be dearly missed and always remembered. At Dianne’s request there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
