Archie Hackwell A lifelong, well known resident of Grande Prairie, Archie Hackwell, died Sunday in Edmonton. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Oliver Funeral Chapel. Mr. Hackwell, 57, was born at Glen Leslie, just east of the city. He was best known as a construction firm operator and as a longtime sponsor and supporter of local chuckwagon racing, specifically Kelly Sutherland who is driving the Hackwell rig again this season. He was also a member of the Shriners, Masonic Lodge, Elks and the Canadian Legion. Mr. Hackwell is survived by his wife Mrs. Shirley Hackwell, son John of Grande Prairie, daughters Mrs. Sue (Ron) Wilson of Grande Prairie, and Miss Reba Hackwell of Grande Prairie, grandson Nicholas Wilson of Grande Prairie, sisters Mrs. Emily (Herbert) Lemkey of Debolt, Mrs. Grace (Harry) Laye of Grande Prairie and Mrs. Helene Warren of Grande Prairie and three nieces and five nephews. Interment will be at the Glen Leslie Cemetery, Rev. Lou Rivers will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
