Hazel Tealinda Ford, long time pioneer.
   Grande Prairie resident Hazel Tealinda Ford passed away Wednesday, April 2, 1980, at Grande Prairie General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Hazel was the fifth daughter born to Mathew and Maria Shedin on January 15, 1905 at Wetaskiwin, Alta.  Hazel walked into the Peace Country over the Edson Trail when she was five years old with the Charlie Lupton family and lived with the Luptons at Bezanson until her marriage to Ernest Alexander Ford, Dec. 1, 1924. Hazel was a school teacher at the Lindsay school in the Bezanson area and Ernie and Hazel were very active in that community until 1938 when they moved into Grande Prairie . Hazel is probably remembered best by many here for the years of service she and Ernie gave at Ford's Grocery She was also a dedicated worker in the community and church affairs serving with the WMS, IODE and hospital auxiliary. Hazel is survived by her sister Vera Gilmore of Edmonton, two sons Ivan V. Ford of Edmonton and Murray D. Ford of Park City, Utah daughter Donna Mitchell of St. Albert, 12 loving grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son Ronald in 1928 and husband Ernest in 1975.
   Funeral service honoring her was held from Oliver Funeral Chapel on Saturday at 10 a.m., with Ron Newfeld officiating. Interment followed in Glen Leslie Cemetery.

FORD,  Ernest A.: August 1, 1981 - August 29, 1975 {also on Ford grave stone page}

Ernest Alexander Ford
   Ernest Alexander Ford passed away on August 29, 1975, at Grande Prairie General Hospital at the age of 84 years. He was born on August 1, 1891, at Englo, Manitoba, and had resided in the Bezanson and Grande Prairie districts for the past 59 years since 1916.
   Mr. Ford was a Veteran of the First Great War, and was a life time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived his wife Hazel; two sons, Murray of Salt Lake City, and Ivan of Saskatoon, Sask.; one daughter, Donna of St. Albert, Alta,; three sisters, Alice Switzer of Winnipeg, Man., Etta Inkman of Agassiz, B.C., Lil Joneson of Powell River, B.C.; pre deceased by one son Ronald in 1927.
   Funeral Services will be held from St. Paul's United Church, Grande Prairie, on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. Arrangements by Oliver Funeral Chapel.
