MacDonnell, Diane Lynn: November 10, 1949 - June 30, 2025
Diane Lynn MacDonnell passed away peacefully at the Grande
Prairie Regional Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2025, from Congestive
Heart Failure. She spent her last days surrounded by her family as they
cried, laughed and sang together.Diane was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta on November 10, 1949. She was raised on the family farm in Bezanson and attended school in Bezanson and Grande Prairie. In the mid seventies Diane moved to Edmonton where she resided in a group home and worked at the Industrial Training and Research Centre, a sheltered workshop for people with mental and physical disabilities. While living in Edmonton, Diane met her future husband, David MacDonnell. They were married in Edmonton in 1986 and lived there until 1991, when they moved to Grande Prairie to be closer to family. In 2006, due to Diane's complex health issues and the need for more care than she could receive at home, Diane spent two years in Claresholm and then lived the rest of her life in Senior's Homes in Hythe and Grande Prairie. Diane leaves to mourn, her husband Dave MacDonnell, her two sisters Maxine Robertson (Jim) and Joyce Thompson (Tom), brother John Hawryluk (Marilyn), Sisters-in-law Judy Anderson, Kathy Marshall (Myron), Margie MacDonnell-Purdy and Barbra MacDonnell, as well as many nieces and nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and special friends. Diane was predeceased by her mother Ellen Hawryluk (nee Ford) and father Bohdan Hawryluk, her sister Penny Hawryluk and her brothers-in-law Terry Lock, Jim MacDonnell and Harold Purdy.
