Henry Ford
We, the Ford family children, announce the passing of our beloved dad, Henry Ford, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre on March 6, 2019 at the age of 92. Henry was born on the Ford family farm, on March 2, 1927 to William and Vera Ford, early settlers to Bezanson, AB. He was the seventh son of a family of 14 children, 7 brothers; Harold, Fred, Charlie, Ross, Harvey, Vern and John and 6 sisters; Elsie, Evelyn, Ellen, Mertyl, Verna and Janet. Henry married Shirley Joan McArthur on May 27, 1955 and together they raised their four children on the Ford farm; Phyllis (Laurie) Lindgren, Gordon (Colleen Franke) Ford, Eleanor (Brickwood) Ford and Bill (Glenda Loewen) Ford. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Collin Lindgren, Corinne (Ostaszewski) Lindgren, Amy (Steinbrecker) Ford, Wesley Ford, Aaron & Andrea Bushey, Jennifer (LeBlanc) Ford, Steven Ford, Haley Ford and Kate Ford and 14 great grandchildren; Christopher Lindgren, Talia & Deegan Ostaszewski, Daisy Steinbrecker, Marcus & Leif Bushey, Hunter Burton & Koltyn Carrier, Emilie, Liam and Amayah Ford, Nathan LeBlanc, Jackson Ford and Brooklyn Hofmeister.
Henry was predeceased by his wife Shirley, (February 17, 1998), his father, mother, 7 brothers and 4 sisters, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Henry held the distinction of being the oldest living Ford male to date. He was an outstanding father and grandfather; teaching through example, many valuable life skills that will serve as his legacy for years to come.
He was a dedicated and tireless provider for his wife and family. He raised cattle, sold and hauled sand, gravel and water and drove school bus, hauling precious cargo for many years for the County of Grande Prairie. He is fondly remembered for his love of music and dancing, right up to his final days as a resident of Heritage Lodge and then the Grande Prairie Care Centre. Henry’s absence will be very noticeable to family and friends and to all those who had regular interaction with him throughout the years. He had a memorable impact on the many staff that served him during his decline at Heritage Lodge and the Grande Prairie Care Center and the family is truly grateful to all staff and caregivers who served our dad with comfort, kindness and thoughtfulness during his decline until his passing.
A Heartfelt Thank You to each of you. Henry will be interred on Sunday, March 10th at 1pm at Glen Leslie Cemetery, and a Memorial Service will follow at People’s Church, 11850 108 Street, Grande Prairie at 3pm.
