McEwen, Gordon Ames: June 17, 1949 - July 20, 2003
Gordon McEwen, 54, of Fort Assiniboine Gordon Ames McEwen passed away suddenly and peacefully on July 20, 2003 at the age of 54 years. Gordon was born in Grande Prairie on June 17. 1949 and resided in the Peace River Country. Gordon met and married Kathy MacAuley and raised two children. Sandi and Jason. In 1983 Gordon and family moved to White Rock. B.C., where he took up boating and received his Power Squadron Certificate. Gordon returned to the Peace Country in 1989 and took up residences in Sunset House, Elk Point and finally Fort Assiniboine, but was presently working in Grande Prairie. Gordon is survived by his parents Thomas and Veryl (Ames); his two children Sandi and Jason (Kathy McEwen), brothers Murray (Cheryl), Alvin (Sandra), nieces and nephews; Tracy (Heath and their three children Megan, Spencer and Colby), Trent (Nikki), Kelly (Shane), Scott, along with special friend Marie Kreiser (Randy and Scott). Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel, 10005-107 Ave., Grande Prairie, Alberta. As expressions of sympathy those wishing to remember Gordon may do so with a gift to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation. Thomas McEwen On Saturday, July 9, 2016, Thomas McEwen passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, at the age of 89 years. Thomas was born in Central Butte, SK on August 24, 1926, He leaves to mourn son Murray (Cheryl) McEwen, granddaughter Tracy (Heath) MacDonald, great-grandchildren Megan, Spencer (Jason) Dupuis and Colby, great great-grandson Wyatt Grayson and grandson Trent (Nicole) McEwen; son Gordon McEwen (deceased), grandchildren Sandy and Jason (Brianne), great-grandchildren Maxwell and Maddie; son Alvin (Sandra) McEwen, grandchildren Kelly (Shane) Cissell, great-grandchildren Paxton and Harper, grandson Scott McEwen and great-grandson Tristan. He will also be missed by his sister Marg Fraser and sister in-law Allie Ames as well as nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his wife Veryl, son Gordon, parents William and Janet and sister Kate. Service information to come. McEwen (nee Ames), On Sunday, May 11, 2014, Veryl McEwen passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie at the age of 87 years. She was born in Grande Prairie on May 8, 1927. She leaves to mourn her husband of 67 years Thomas Lindsay McEwen, son Murray (Cheryl) McEwen, their children Tracy (Heath) MacDonald and their family Megan, Spencer and Colby as well as one great great-grandson Wyatt Grayson, and Trent (Nicole) McEwen; son Gordon McEwen (deceased), his children Sandy and Jason (Brianne) and their son Maxwell; son Alvin (Sandra) McEwen, their children Kelly (Shane) Cissell and their son Paxton, Scott McEwen and his son Tristan; brother Tyke (Alice) Ames and their extended families; as well as a large number of cousins and their families and multiple friends and neighbors. Veryl was predeceased by brother Glenn and son Gordon. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 1:00pm at Glen Leslie Cemetery. Murray Ames McEwen Murray Ames McEwen passed away on Wednesday April 5, 2017 at the age of 69. Murray was born August 6, 1947 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He was survived by his wife Cheryl (nee Bain), children Tracy MacDonald (Heath), Trent McEwen (Nicole), grandchildren Megan MacDonald, Spencer Dupuis (Jason), Darcy Laidlaw, Colby MacDonald, great grandson Wyatt VanMetre, brother Alvin McEwen (Sandra), as well as numerous other family members and close friends. Murray was predeceased by his parents Tom and Veryl McEwen, and brother Gordon McEwen. According to Murray's wishes, the family requests your presence at a gathering in his memory at the Bezanson Hall on the weekend of June 3, 2017.
