MELLON Grave Stones

Mellon, Fred: March 17, 1937 - November 22, 2025

With great sadness Gale Mellon wishes to announce the passing of her Partner and Husband of 30 years. Fred Mellon was born March 17th, 1937, in Grovedale, Alberta to Monty and Loretta Mellon and passed away at the Grande Prairie Hospice on November 22nd, 2025.
Fred and Gale worked hand in hand to build their dream home on their acreage, east of the Youngs Point turnoff, on the north side of Hwy 43 at Sturgeon Heights. This was Fred’s pride and joy home. From here he enjoyed snowshoeing through the adjoining green zone and up and down the creek. Fred enjoyed lots of ice fishing and loved to observe the abundance of wildlife and birds that passed through, or made their homes on, or near the acreage. Hundreds of geese and ducks, together with with their babies were fed there.
Fred was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman, his entire life and loved being out in nature, until failing health would no longer allow him to do these activities.
Fred and Gale resided on their acreage until the fall of 2024, when Fred’s health took a turn for the worse, and he could no longer tend to the acreage in the manner in which he had been able to. They then moved to the new Seniors Cottages in Debolt and continued with activities at the Debolt Seniors Centre.
Gale would like to pass on sincere thanks to the Doctors and Staff at the Valleyview and Grande Prairie Hospitals, as well as the Doctors and Staff at the Grande Prairie Hospice for the excellent care Fred received.
It was Freds wish that no funeral or ceremony be conducted, all other arrangements have been entrusted to Bear Creek Funeral Home.
