DILLABOUGH, William G. "Jeff": March 16, 1922 - July 17, 1999 {also on Dillabough grave stone page}

William Gerald (Jeff) Dillabough, 77, of Grande Prairie
   Jeff Dillabough, born March 16, 1922 in Port Sydney, Ont. passed away peacefully on July 17, 1999 in Grande Prairie, Alta. at the age of 77 years.
   Jeff joined the Canadian Army in 1942, this was where he met his wife, Bertha. They were married January 2, 1945. In 1946, they moved to the Fitzsimmons area (north of Bezanson) where Bertha had a quarter section of land. Together they began to homestead it and soon acquired three more quarter sections. The work was hard but they enjoyed it. They had many wonderful neighbors who were homesteading as well. In that era, people shared and helped their neighbor. No man really worked alone. When there was thrashing to be done, it was a community effort and everyone helped with the harvest, as they would go from farm to farm until it was all completed.
   Jeff retired from farming in 1980, at a time when his wife had become very ill and needed him. He cared for her at home as long as he was able. After she died, he lived with his children. He was not a man who enjoyed being alone, he thrived on having someone to swap stories with.
   He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha in 1986; son, Murray in 1993; a daughter, Geraldine in 1962.
Jeff is survived by his children: daughter, Deb (Paul) and her children, Natalie, Jason (Tamara), Tanya, Nichole, and Kalina; daughter-in-law, Sharon and her sons, Robin and Curtis; son, Russell (Violet) and his children, Tyla (Richard), Trevor (Cari-Lynn) and Pamela; son, Neil, daughter-in-law Sylvia and children, Dawna, Sheila and Michael; daughter, Rhonda (Brian) and sons Derek and Courtney; daughter, Brenda (Jan) and children, Steve, Amanda, Paula (Terry) and Joe.
   He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, step grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, one sister: Betty (James) Lumiss and one brother-in-law, Andy Stahls, from Ontario.
   He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
   The funeral for our father, grandfather and friend will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at the Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel with Pastor Juss officiating. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at 7 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Funeral Home.
   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
Interment will follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
