Gertrude Clarkson, 91, of Grande Prairie
   On Wednesday, January 20, 1993, Gertrude Marian Clarkson passed away at Mackenzie Place, Grande Prairie, Alberta, at age 91. She was born at Swan River, Manitoba on June 1, 1901. She lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Perdue, Saskatchewan, and on the farm at Heartshill, Saskatchewan with her parents. Prior to attending Edmonton Normal School to become a teacher, she married Jim Clarkson of Crystal Creek in 1935. After coming to the Peace Area in 1932. She taught school at Baytree, Crystal Creek, Bezanson, Somme, and Webster Trail schools. Gertrude also enjoyed flowers & gardening. She had most recently been a resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
   She is survived by her husband Jim of Grande Prairie; and her only daughter, Marion Clarkson of Calgary. She is also survived by nieces and nephew: Carmen & Donna Rumohr, Betty Rumohr, and their families at Luseland & Major, Saskatchewan; as well as cousins in Scotland.
   She was predeceased by her mother and dad, Annie & David Rumohr; and by brothers Melvin & Ashley Rumohr. Funeral service for the late Gertrude Marian Clarkson will be held at Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, Alberta on Saturday, January 23, 1993, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Vern Begalke officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Leslie Cemetery.
   Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.

CLARKSON, James F.: January 26, 1907 - June 30, 1996 {Also on Clarkson grave stone page}

James Edward Clarkson, 89, of Grande Prairie
   On Sunday, June 30, 1996, Jim Clarkson, resident of the Grande Prairie area, passed away at the QEII Hospital, Grande Prairie, Alberta, at the age of 89 years. Jim was horn on January 26, 1907 in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1919. He moved with his family to the Crystal Creek area where he farmed and resided until 1989, at which time he moved to Heritage Lodge in Grande Prairie. Jim's greatest enjoyment in life was working his land and communing with nature. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, drives in the country, curling, having coffee with the "Senators" at the Coop. Jim was a brother of the Grande Prairie Masonic Lodge.
   He will be lovingly remembered by his only daughter, Marion, of Grande Prairie, Alberta; his sister, Jennie McDonald of Grande Prairie, Alberta; brother, Douglas Clarkson of Grande Prairie, Alberta; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and special friends Stan and Bev Baker and family of DeBolt, Alberta; Donna Saunders of Innisfail, Alberta; as well as many other friends and neighbors.
   He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude; his parents, brother Albion (Lydia); and sister Gladys (Gerald) Carveth.
   Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 1996 at Oliver Funeral Chapel 7-8 p.m.
   Funeral service for the late James Clarkson will he held on Thursday, July 4, 1996 at Oliver Funeral Chapel, 10212-102 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Joanna MacQuarrie officiating. Interment to follow at  the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
