Jeanett Wales Mrs. Jennett Wa1es a resident of Grande Prairie, died in hospital here Thursday. She was 48 years old. Mrs. Wales was born in McGrath, Alta, Jan. 18, 1917, and lived in Grande Prairie for a number of years She is survived by her husband Charles Edmund Wales of Grande Prairie. Charles Edmund Wales Another pioneer of the Grande Prairie area has passed away. Charles Edmund Wales died peacefully in his sleep last Wednesday afternoon on the 11th of May 2016. Charles was born in a log house on his parents' homestead in Glen Leslie, AB. The second child of Ross and Ann (Moon) Wales, Charles spent his entire long life in the Grande Prairie area. He married Jennett Laura Andersen in 1938. Together they had five daughters: Marilyn of Edmonton, Joan (Michael) Demaine of Sherwood Park, Joyce of Grande Prairie, Sharon (John) Christie of Trochu, and Debbie (Trever Sekulich) of High Prairie. Following the death of Jennett in 1965, Charles married Alta (Andersen) [Peterson]. Charles had a varied career as a farmer, sawmill sawyer, cat skinner, carpenter, mechanic, welder, wood worker, gardener, and volunteer extraordinaire. He had many interests, including travel, family and friends, history, collecting old tools, and telling tall tales and jokes. He loved golf and was a fervent fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Left to mourn his loss are his sister Elizabeth McLaughlin, his daughters, his step-son Terrance Peterson and his wife Mina, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, friends, and neighbours. Charles was predeceased by his parents; his brothers: Alfred and John "Jack" Wales; Jennett and Alta Wales; his step-son Wayne Peterson and his son in-law, Michael Demaine. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at 2:00pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.), followed by a luncheon. Charles's ashes will be buried at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (#229, 9804 100 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0T8), or to a charity of your choice. Alta Wales On Friday, August 13, 2004, Alta Elnora Wales (nee Peterson), resident of Grande Prairie, Passed away at Mackenzie Place at the age of 92 years. She was born on August 30, 1911 in Magrath, Alberta. Alta is survived by her husband Charles Wales, Son Terry (Mina) Peterson of Valleyview, Alberta, stepdaughters Marilyn Wales of Edmonton, Alberta, Joan (Michael) Demaine of Sherwood Park, Alberta. Joyce Wales of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Sharon (Jack) Christie of Trochu, Alberta, Debbie Wales (Trevor Sekulich) of High Prairie, Alberta, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren: sisters Mina and Mary, Brother Jim and many other relatives and friends. Alta was predeceased by her first husband Emil Peterson and sons Dennis and Wayne. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. from Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel, 10005-107 Ave., Grande Prairie, with Pastor Vern Begalke officiating.
