   Mr. Gehard Selmer Berg passed away at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Saturday. December 13, 1986 at the age of 80.
   He was born at Wanda, Saskatchewan, Gehard and his wife Tilla and family moved from Meacham, Saskatchewan in the fall of 1940 to the Bezanson area where he farmed. He was a long time resident of the area up until five years ago, at which time he and his wife moved to Aurora Court in Grande Prairie.
   Gehard enjoyed music, and was an ardent sports fan. He also enjoyed baseball and skiing, and was always keeping up with sports on television.
   He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Tilla, three children; Lyle (Ada) Berg, Norman (Frances) Berg, Lillian (George) Cissell one brother Melvin (Alma) Berg; two sisters, Mabel (Ed) Bredeson, and Margaret (Alf) Bredeson, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
   Gehard was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mina. and by three brothers and four sisters.
   Funeral service for the late Gehard Selmer Berg will be held at the Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Wednesday, December 17, 1986, at 2 p m , with Rev Dennis Aicken officiating. Interment to take place at the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
   Pallbearers are grandsons: Gary Berg, Gordon Berg, Grant Cissell, Eldon Cissell, Lonnie Cissell, and Terrill Cissell.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Heart Fund Association.

   Tilla Jonette Berg, longtime resident of Grande Prairie and Bezanson area, passed away in Grande Prairie on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998 at the age of 92 years.

Norman Selmar Grant Berg: - June 25, 1929 - March 22, 2010
   Norman Selmar Grant Berg, born June 25, 1929 passed away suddenly at his home on March 22, 2010 at the age of 80 years.
   He leaves to mourn his daughter, Renna (Bob) Logan and his sons, Gary (Martina), Gordon (Trudy) Berg, 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Lyle (Ada) Berg and sister, Lillian Cissell.
   He was predeceased by his wife, Frances on November 21, 2009, his daughter, Ellen, parents, Gehard and Tilla, and four brothers.
   Funeral services will be held at Bezanson Community Church on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Chris Willis officiating.
   Many thanks to Pastor Chris and his support and the caring words of friends and family. You all have made a very difficult time just a little easier.
   In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

   Frances Eileen Berg, of Bezanson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the QEII Hospital at the age of 81 years.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Norman of 59 years, her children; Renna (Bob) Logan, Gary (Martina) Berg and Gordon (Trudy) Berg, her grandchildren; Candace (Jason) Martin, Darren (Jennifer) Loewen, Shelly (Scott) Gardner, Theresa (Steve) Kaufmann, Terri (Quenton) Hatch, Clinton (Dannielle) Logan, Moriah, Shannon , Carson and Sam Berg . She also leaves 11 great grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters, along with their families.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Eileen Birnie-Browne, her brother Jerry Bernie Browne and her daughter, Ellen Loewen.
   Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 2 pm at the Bezanson Community Church with Pastor Chris Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Leslie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would kindly appreciate donations be made to the QEII Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit Grande Prairie, AB.

 Mabel Constance Bredeson, 86, of Grande Prairie
   Mabel Constance Bredeson was born on October 24, 1908 in Viscount, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in the Pioneer Lodge on July 31. 1995 at the age of 86 years.
   In her younger years, Mabel lived in the Sexsmith area where she met and married Edwin Bredeson in 1927. A couple of years later Mabel and Ed settled in the Glen Leslie district where they farmed and raised their family.
    "Grandma" Bredeson had many talents including cake decorating, baking, and piano playing, and all of these skills were self-taught. Any visitor to her home could expect a cup of hot coffee, a hearty meal and lots of lively conversation.
   Mabel's main source of pride came from her family which includes three children: Evelyn (Bruce) Rycroft of Grande Prairie. Ernest (Ellen) of Glen Leslie.. Marian (Andy) Waldner of Clairmont; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
   Mabel is also survived by her one brother, Melvin Berg of Hythe, and sister, Margaret (Alfred) Bredeson of Grande Prairie.
   She was predeceased by her loving husband, Edwin of 67 years, on December 27, 1994.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army, would be appreciated by the family.
   Visitation for family and friends will be held at Oliver Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 3, 1995 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Edwin Bredeson, 91, of Grande Prairie
   Edwin Bredeson, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away in Grande Prairie on December 27, 1994 at the age of 91 years.
   He was born in Goodrich, North Dakota on June 16, 1903. He came to the Peace River Country in 1915, over the Edson Trail, coining to Sexsmith, where he worked on the rail road. He met and married Mabel Berg in 1927 and they both worked in the sawmills for two years then took up farming in the Glen Leslie area. His biggest enjoyment was music and playing the violin at many local dances. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed baseball playing for the Glen Leslie team.
   He is survived by his loving wife Mabel of 67 years; three children: Evelyn (Bruce) Rycroft of Grande Prairie. Ernest (Ellen) of Glen Leslie, Marian (Andy) Waldner of Clairmont; and 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, brother, Alfred (Margaret) of Glen Leslie; numerous nieces, nephews and Many other relatives and friends.
   Visitation for family and friends will he held at Oliver Funeral Chapel today at 7 p.m.
   Funeral Service will he held at Oliver Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 30, 1994 at 11 a.m. Lt. Dave Grice officiating.

Margaret Cecilia Bredeson  was born September 7, 1910 in Viscount, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully, September 26, 2000 at the Grande Prairie Care Centre at the age of 90 years. Margaret is the last of a family of 13.
   Margaret was predeceased by her son, Lyle Alfred and her husband Alfred.
   She is survived by her four children,  Eileen (George) Hodges, Wilfred (Agnes) Bredeson, Velda (Knut) Skarberg, Delbert (Evelyn) Bredeson, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2000 at 1 p.m. at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel (10005 - 107 Avenue) Grande Prairie. Interment to follow at Glen Leslie Cemetery.
   Lunch will follow at the Bezanson Senior Center at 3 p.m.

Alfred Bredeson, passed away on April 20, 1996 at the QE II Hospital, Grande Prairie at the age of 91 years.
   He was born in North Dakota on March 30, 1905. In 1915 he came over the Edson Trail with his parents and settled in the Peace Country.
   Alfred met Margaret Berg in 1926 and married in 1927. He filed on their home place in the Glen Leslie area a few years later and resided there until his passing.
   Alfred is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret, daughter Eileen Hodges of LaGlace, and Velda  Skarberg of Grande Prairie, sons Wilf (Agnes) of Winfield, B.C., and Delbert (Evelyn) of Grande Prairie; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
   Alfred was predeceased by one son, Lyle, one son-in-law George Hodges, one great-granddaughter-in-law.
   Funeral service for the late Alfred Bredeson will be held on Thursday, April 25, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie with Rev. Canon Isaac Graham officiating. Interment to follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery.

Ellen Marjorie Loewen, 40, of Grande Prairie
   On Monday, October 21.1991, Ellen Marjorie Loewen passed away in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at age 40.
   Ellen was born in Grande Prairie on April 30, 1951. She grew up on a farm in the Bezanson area, where she lived until her marriage to John Loewen in May 1970, Ellen and John lived in various locations - Crooked Creek, Scotland, and South Africa - before returning, to Grande Prairie in 1987. She had been a hair stylist while she lived in Grande Prairie, and was most recently employed at Metropol.
   Ellen is survived by her husband John; daughter Candice (Jason Martin) of Edmonton; son Darren of Grande Prairie: her parents, Norman and Frances Berg of Grande Prairie; sister Renna (Bob) Logan of Teepee Creek; brothers Gary (Noella) Berg of Bezanson, and Gordon (Trudy) Berg of Grande Prairie; her parents-in-law, Art and Marion Loewen of Grande Prairie; her grandmother Tilla Berg of Grande Prairie; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
   Funeral service for the late  Ellen Marjorie Berg will be held at Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Saturday October 26, 1991, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Vern Begalke officiating. Interment in the Glen Leslie Cemetery.

Early Sunday morning April 12, 2015, Lillian Cissell passed away at age of 80 years in Grande Prairie. Lillian was the youngest child of three, born to Gerhard and Tilla Berg at home in Viscount, Saskatchewan.
   Lillian came to Alberta with her family at the age of 5 in 1940.
   In June 25, 1952, Lil married George Cissell and they spent most of their 50 years of marriage in Bezanson. Lil worked hard and played hard raising 4 sons. After George’s passing Lil moved to Grande Prairie for her remaining years.
   Lil leaves to mourn her sons: Grant (Moneca), John Elden (Rosalie), Lonnie (Elaine) and Terrill (Laurette); 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Lyle Berg and sister in-law Ada Berg. Lil was predeceased by her parents Gerhard and Tilla Berg, her husband George Cissell, brother Norman Berg and sister in-law Francis Berg.
   A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 2:00pm, at the Bezanson Community Church. Interment will follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery.

George Cissell, 76, of Bezanson
   George was born in Iola,  AB on December 30, 1926, the youngest child of George and Agnes Cissell. George passed away March 29, 2003, due to cancer.
   Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years. Lillian, his sons: Grant (Moneca) of Chetwynd, John Eldon (Rosalie), Lonnie (Elaine), Terrill (Laurette), all of Bezanson. Grandchildren: Lyndel and Aaron Cissell, Carmen (Mike) Howarth, Monty (Katherine) Cissell, Patricia Cissell, Jodie and Amber Cissell, Dwain (Monique) Cissell and Shane (Kelly) Cissell, and numerous relatives and in-laws. He also leaves great-grandchildren Austin & Aiden Cissell and Tabor Cissell.
   George was predeceased by his Dad George, Mother Agnes, sisters: Ruth, Lucille, Gladys, and Dorothy, brothers; Walter, Leo, and John.
   George grew up in the Blufton and Rimby area. Around the age of 16, he moved to Grande Prairie and found work driving truck.
George met Lillian Berg and they were married in 1952.
   Their first years were spent in Dawson Creek, B.C. where George drove truck for Northern Freightway's on the Alaska Highway.
   Several years later they moved their family back to the Grande Prairie area. George tackled a variety of different professions such as truck driving,  farming, working in a sawmill, cat skinning, camp cook, logger, vacuum truck owner, and most recently Gate Security.
   George was a great father, wonderful husband, a quiet man who was always there for his family. One of his greatest qualities was his sense of humor, and never taking life too seriously. He enjoyed the simple things in life like family gatherings, the outdoors and a
hot cap of coffee. George's memory will be cherished by many people.
   Funeral services will he held on Thursday, April 3, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Bezanson Community Church. Interment to take place in
the Glen Leslie Cemetery with lunch to follow in the Bezanson Senior Center.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can e made to the QE II Foundation Cancer Clinic.
