DELANEY, Wm. Alvin: 1916 - 2002 {also on White grave stone page}
William Alvin Delaney, 86, of Blind Bay, B.C. (William) Alvin Delaney of Blind Bay. B.C. formerly of Louis Creek. B.C., Tupper. B.C. and Clairmont. Alta., passed away on Thursday. September 12. 2002 at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C.. at the age of 86 years and seven months. Dad fought king and hard to stay with us but died, as he lived, without complaint and only concern for those of us who kept the vigil by his bedside until the end. Alvin was born on February 14, 1916 in Thessalon, Ont., to John and Alberta (Bertha) Delaney, in 1918, following the death of his father, Alvin and his mother and five siblings moved to the Kleskun Hill area and he gained a step-dad, Isaac (Ike) Boyer and later four additional siblings. Alvin lived, worked and made his home in the Kleskun/Clainnont area until 1962 when he moved his family to the Tupper area. In 1974 upon retirement. he bought a small acreage at Louis Creek. B.C., and resided there until his failing health necessitated a move to a seniors home at Blind Bay, in June 2002. Dad's health improved immensely in this new environment but, sadly, on August 17, 2002 he entered the hospital where he spent his last days. Dad knew who all of us were, to the end. and kept his sense of humour even though we knew he was in extreme pain. We felt honoured to he able to spend these last weeks with him as he had sacrificed so much to raise us, and help us whenever he could. throughout our lives. Dad always gave unselfishly to others, never asking anything in return. He will be greatly missed. Alvin was predeceased by his parents and step-dad. infant son, James Alvin; sisters. Annie Delaney, Edna Ames and Florence Delany: brothers, Johnny Delaney, Archie Delaney and Clarence (Bub) Boyer brothers-in-law: Carl Cotnam, Fred Ames, Art Bryenten. Alice
(Aagtje) Balmer, 81, formerly a Delaney, of Grande Prairie Mrs. Alice Balmer is now with our Lord. She passed away peacefully at the Q.E.II Hospital on March 10, 2000 at the age of 81 years. She suffered from kidney failure and was on dialysis for the last six years of her life. Alice was born in Tolbert, Leek, Netherlands, February 12, 1919 to Harm and Grietje Renkema. She had three brothers and four sisters. During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands in W.W. II, Alice received her nursing degree and also a diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and Midwifery. She met and later married Archie Delaney who was serving with the Allied occupation forces in the Netherlands. In 1946 she came to Canada as a war bride with their first daughter June. Archie and Alice bought a 1/4 section of land through the VLA in the Glen Leslie area east of Grande Prairie where they farmed and expanded their family with a set of twin girls and later a son. Archie died in August 1954 after a tractor accident in the Kleskun Hills. That winter Alice and her children moved into a new home built in Grande Prairie for them by family, friends and Legion members. Alice worked hard and made many sacrifices, probably the greatest being to remain in Canada rather than return to her family in the Netherlands. She felt Canada offered a better future for her children. Her decision was made easier because of the support of Archie's family. In 1955 Alice started working full time at the Grande Prairie Municipal Hospital where she worked until 1978. At the time of her retirement she was the Nursing Supervisor of women's medical and pediatrics. Alice married William Balmer in December 1972. They were active members of the Church of Christ where she had many close friends. Alice is lovingly remembered by her husband William, daughters June (Gordon) Price, Eveline Delaney, Irene (Joseph) Riou, son Raymond Delaney, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also sadly missed by her sisters Hinke Hoekstra-Renkema, Klas (Arend) Stall and let Van der Velde-Renkema as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ, 9602 - 92 Avenue, Grande Prairie, on Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Alan Jones officiating. Interment to follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery. ADAMS, Eveline Rose: August 12, 1947 - September 29, 2023 {also on Adams grave stone page}
Eveline Rose (Pennington) Nee Delaney Adams It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, Eveline Adams. She passed away after a short battle with cancer. She is now peacefully with our Lord and her family in heaven. Mom was born at Johanna’s Maternity Hospital in Sexsmith, AB, on August 12, 1947, approx. 15 minutes after her twin sister Irene. She grew up on a farm in the Kleskun Hills until she was 8 years old. The family moved into town after her daddy was killed in a tractor accident the year before. As Mom grew older, she found a love of sports including basketball, baseball, and figure skating. In her adult life, Mom wore many hats. She was a registered nurse in Grande Prairie, Edmonton, and Red Deer. She then moved onto sales and sold mobile homes in the late 70s and early 80s before our family ventured into owning other companies throughout Alberta. During this time, Mom found a passion for finance and excelled at it! She worked for the Scotia Bank for 20+ years and for HSBC until her retirement. Mom was also one of the original founding members of the Grande Prairie Christian School. She enjoyed giving to those in need, lending a hand where needed, cooking extra meals, or just spending time with people who needed it in her community. Mom instilled in us the importance of having faith, love, compassion, and understanding. We all have the ability to show love and compassion, and it costs nothing. This is what Mom would want us to do. Eveline is survived by her brother Raymond Delaney; son Michael Pennington; daughters Gwen (Dean) Robideau and Gayle Pennington; grandchildren Anthony Robideau, Lindsay (Marcus) Thompson, Morgan (Sean) Hamilton, and Brandon Lawrance; and great-grandchildren Alec and Xave Hamilton, and Elizabeth Delaney Thompson, the newest member of the family. Eveline was predeceased by her husband Mark Adams; parents Archie and Aagtje (Alice) Delaney; sisters June Delaney and Irene Riou; and her brother-in-law Joe Riou. A Celebration of Life for Eveline will be held in June 2024, at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. As more information is available, it will be added here. BREITKREUTZ,
Alvin: August 5, 1945 - January 2, 2018
Alvin
Breitkreutz Alvin Breitkreutz, a resident of La Glace, Alberta entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 72 years. Alvin Arthur Breitkreutz was born August 5, 1945 in Grande Prairie, Alberta the eldest son of parents Hermann and Emilia Breitkreutz. Raised on the family farm west of Wembley, Alvin didn’t venture far from his roots in adulthood. After marrying Ruth Mae Delaney in November 1969, the couple moved to Wembley and were blessed with two children, daughter Jody and son Jason. Alvin enjoyed playing baseball and had a passion for curling. He was a member of the Wembley Agricultural Society, Wembley Volunteer Fire Department and several other community groups. Alvin loved hunting and camping and treasured memories made with family and friends. Alvin was a career truck driver having experience transporting everything from logs and “beaver biscuits” to grain, fertilizer and equipment. Alvin participated in several regional, provincial and national truck rodeos, receiving multiple awards for his skill and professionalism. Alvin’s finished his trucking career with his 1996 Kenworth working with his Bobcat and installing signs for Weyerhaeuser. His children were blessed with the opportunity to work along side their father during these years. Transitioning slowly into retirement, Alvin went to work for Bobcat of the Peace and after several years finally officially “retired” in August of 2015. After retirement Alvin needed to keep busy and was given the opportunity to help out on the Siebert Farm near LaGlace.
