SMASHNUK, Peter: 1889 - 1975 {also on Smashnuk grave stone page}
Peter Smashnuk Mr. Smashnuk was born in Austria and came to Canada in 1911, settling in the Andrew district, moving to Bezanson in 1921 where he farmed until 1950 when he moved to Fort St, John. In 1974 he returned to Grande Prairie where he resided until his passing. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Lene, four sons: Nick of Grande Prairie, Eli of Wembley, George of Victoria, Leon of Dawson Creek, 3 daughters: Mrs. Cecil (Dorothy) Pickell, of Fort St. John, Mrs. Earl (Mary) Norton of Grande Prairie, and Mrs. Norman (Dorothy) Semotonk of Calgary, 36 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four sons, Harry and Donald of Bezanson and William and Paul overseas during the Second World War. Funeral services will be held from the Oliver Funeral Chapel on February 1, 1975 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Lou Rivers officiating, interment will follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
