James Henry Boyd, 75, of Grande Prairie
   James Henry Boyd, lifetime resident of Grande Prairie, paced away Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at the age of 75 years alter a lengthy illness.
   James was born June 28, 1924 in Grande Prairie and farmed in the Crystal Creek area. He as involved in coaching fastball and hockey. His biggest joy was watching his grandchildren in their activities.
   James is survived by; his loving wife of 50 years Doreen (nee Gillespie), son James Elmer Boyd (Karen Gummer) grandchildren Jason and Michelle, son Kelly Boyd (Kerry Nickerson), grandchildren Kaylene, Kristal and Kolby, daughter Nancy Weber (Blair), grandchildren Amanda, Nathan and Nicola, daughter Tammy O'Hallahan (Ross), grandchildren, Shea, Kelly, and Liam, brothers Don, Grant, Keith (Ruth), and Neil (Gwen).
   He was predeceased by his brother William and sister Mary.
   Memorial donations in James memory may he made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Association of Canada.
   Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2000 at 1 p.m. from St. Paul's United Church (10106-100 Ave) Grande Prairie with Rev. Vern Begalke officiating. Friends are invited to join the family at the Royal Canadian Legion (9912-101 Ave) at 2 p.m. for refreshments.
   Cremation has taken place.

BOYD, Doreen Helen (Gillespie): October 2, 1930 - March 14, 2022 {also on Boyd grave stone page}

  Today, we lost a ray of sunshine, Doreen Helen (Gillespie) Boyd age 91, of Grande Prairie, Alberta passed away on March 14, 2022.
   Doreen was predeceased by her parents Elmer and Mary Gillespie, her husband James Boyd, her sisters Olive Walters and Barbara Boyd, her brother Charlie Gillespie and her wonderful friend Bob Kimble.
   She is survived by her 4 children, Jim(Becky), Nancy(Louis), Kelly(Kerry), Tammy(Ross), her 13 grandchildren, Michelle(Will), Jason(Paula), Tyler, Travis, Amanda(John), Nathan, Nicola(Keegan), Kaylene(Steve), Kyrstal(Mack), Kolby(Neil), Shea(Levi), Kelly(Travis), Liam(Fraize), and 15 great grandchildren with one more on the way.
   As a young girl growing up at Hermit Lake, she was a great athlete playing softball and holding records for her running. After marriage, Jim and Doreen farmed in the Crystal Creek area for many years. Doreen was a great cook, renowned for her cinnamon buns. She was also an amazing knitter and seamstress, sewing countless graduation dresses and Halloween costumes over the years. Anything she put her mind to she did well.
   All her life she remained an avid sports fan and could quote statistics for her favourite NBA team the Raptors. She spent her last night watching curling on tv. The highlight of her life was her family. She was adored by her children and grandchldren who loved spending time with her. She has many friends who will feel the loss. It was a life well lived and she will be sorely missed.
   Her Celebration of Life will be held at the Oliver Funeral Home on April 16th at 1:00. There will be a light lunch to follow.
   In lieu of flowers the family asks you to make a donation to a charity of your choice.
