Coney, Keith Alexander: March 17, 1936 – October 27, 2024 {Also on Ford stone page}
Keith Alexander Coney![]() Keith was born in Grande Prairie to his parents Edward “Ted” and Roberta “Bobbi” Coney on March 17th, 1936. He was the third of seven children and grew up in the Kleskun Hills area as well as Calgary, AB. At the age of 24, he married his sweetheart Kathleen ”Kay” Ford who was 17 years old and they spent the rest of their lives creating a home and family life together. They welcomed their children Kim on October 1st, 1961, Kelly on August 28th, 1964, and finally Scott on September 16th, 1971. Keith was mainly raised on the farm in Kleskun hills until his dad Ted enlisted in the army and moved his family to Calgary where Keith enjoyed roaming the city finding many adventures. After WW2 was over, the family moved back to Kleskun hills to continue farming. As he became a teen, he was part of a local threshing crew and made $1.00 per day. He met his sweetheart Kay, and got married in Valleyview, AB, on Oct 27, 1960, in a double wedding ceremony with Kay's brother Elmer, and Keith's cousin Joan. They all honeymooned together in Seattle, WA. After a few years of their early marriage living in Bezanson with Kay, raising the kids and Keith doing road seismic work and road building, Keith moved the family to Puskwaskau, AB, to homestead and farm while also continuing to work construction. Eventually, he worked as a grader operator for the government while still living his dream of farming and raising a family. Keith loved to joke and visit with anyone who came his way. He was always friendly, jovial and enjoyed teasing. He enjoyed watching sports, visiting friends and family and looking out the farmhouse window at the vast beauty of the farm that he helped create. On Aug 9th, 2012, the love of his life Kay passed away at the age of 69. About a year later he sold the farm and moved to the Emerald Gardens where he was pampered by the amazing health care workers until the time of his passing. Keith was predeceased by his parents Ted and Bobbi, sisters Marg, Jean and Faye, brothers Rick, Brian and Dean. Keith will be sadly missed by his three children Kim (Archie), Kelly (Heather) and Scott (Kathleen). Grandchildren Morgan (Liam), Mackenzie (William), Emily, Garrett (Kali), Josh (Ashley), Justin, Kyle and Seth. Great grandchildren Eden, Forrest and Dakota. There will be a celebration of life at the Bezanson Seniors Center on November 16 at 2 pm. We invite all friends and family to join us. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Salvation Army, as cheques via mail 9525 83 Ave Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6V1.
