John Coney

Coney, John W. (Jock)Jock Coney passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the QEII Hospital at the age of 84. Jock was born in Scotland and immigrated to Bezanson, Alberta in 1928 with his parents. At 18 he joined the army and served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment until June 1946. He returned to Bezanson where he worked at various jobs. In 1948 he married June Lucas. Jock was predeceased by his wife June, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his children: Cortez (Lynne), Christine (Ron) Thorpe, Lorie (Randy) Kennedy, Kelsey (Rose), Larry (Barb) and Vicky (Barry), twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, Brothers-in-law; Mac (Dora) Lucas and Gordie (Rose) Genz, Sisters-in-law; Barb Lucas and Lorraine Norstrom.Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 2 pm at the Bezanson Community Church. Faye Coney married Lawrence Gaboury

Lawrence Gaboury, long-time resident of the Bezanson area, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at Mackenzie Place in Grande Prairie at the age of 79 years.Lawrence was born on Jan. 27, 1928 in Grande Prairie. He grew up in the Teepee Creek area, where, with his brother Bud, he participated for many years at Teepee Creek Stampede. (They put new meaning in the Teepee Creek Terror). There he met his beautiful wife Faye.The couple farmed on the banks of the Smoky River where they raised their three children.Lawrence is survived by his children; Jim (Lana) Gaboury, Carrie McQuaig, Janet (Darrell) Waldner, his grandchildren; Jason, Shalah, Misty, Melanie, Kelli, Crista, Sandi, Chelsie (Kurtis) and Kyle, his great grandchildren; Savana, Austin, and Ethin.He was predeceased by his wife Faye, parents Eugene and Mary and brother Bud.Funeral service will be held at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel (10005-107 Ave) Grande Prairie on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vern Begalke Officiating.
