   Kathleen Lucille “Kay” Coney longtime resident of Puskwaska, Alberta passed away peacefully at the age of 69 years on Thursday, August 9, 2012. Kay was born April 27, 1943 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She was a longtime resident of Paskwaska area. Kay was beloved wife of Keith of 51 years. She was a farm wife who loved having family and friends around to “fuss” over, cook and visit with. Kay enjoyed her large garden and many flower beds in the summer months, scrapbooking, photography and painting. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren, whom she loved very much. A special joy for her was to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren during the holidays and family functions. Kay will be sadly missed by husband Keith Coney, daughter Kim (Morgan, MacKenzie), son Kelly and wife Heather (Emily & Garrett), Son Scott and wife Kathleen (Joshua, Justin, Kyle, Seth). Brother’s Jim (Donna), Elmer (Joan), Danny (Marian), sister Judy and sister in-laws Jean (Ray) and Marg. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Ford, Julia Ford (Brown), brother Elmer Ford and Gordon & Gertie Edgington.
   Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 2:00pm, at the Bezanson Community Church, in Bezanson, Alberta.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rainbow Society of Grande Prairie.

   Vicky Coney, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Bezanson, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Points West Hospice, at the age of 59 years.
   Vicky was born April 18, 1957 in Grande Prairie, AB and grew up in the Bezanson area. She completed High School in Sexsmith. Vicky was a lover of all animals, enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Her big heart for all of her family, grandchildren, and friends was endless. Her big smile and laughter would light up a room. She loved scrapbooking and making albums for family weddings and events.
   She will be sadly missed by her husband Barry Court; children: Amber (Josh) Skelly, and Bobby-Jo (Ben) Johnson; grandchildren: Faith, Lizzy, Abigail, and Alex; brothers: Cortez (Lynn) Coney, Kelsey (Rose) Coney, and Larry (Barb) Coney; sisters: Christine (Ron) Thorpe, and Lori (Randy) Kennady.
   She was predeceased by her mother June Coney, father Jock Coney.
   A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 7:00-9:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
   A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 2:00pm, at Bezanson Community Church.

John  W. (Jock) Coney
   Jock Coney passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the QEII Hospital at the age of 84. Jock was born in Scotland and immigrated to Bezanson, Alberta in 1928 with his parents. At 18 he joined the army and served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment until June 1946. He returned to Bezanson where he worked at various jobs.
   In 1948 he married June Lucas. Jock was predeceased by his wife June, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his children: Cortez (Lynne), Christine (Ron) Thorpe, Lorie (Randy) Kennedy, Kelsey (Rose), Larry (Barb) and Vicky (Barry), twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, Brothers-in-law; Mac (Dora) Lucas and Gordie (Rose) Genz, Sisters-in-law; Barb Lucas and Lorraine Norstrom.
   Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 2 pm at the Bezanson Community Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of ones choice.

   Margaret June Heloise Coney (nee Lucas) passed away on Friday, March 15, 2002 at the QE II Hospital.
   June was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to Cortez and Daisy Lucas. She moved to the Grande Prairie area in 1947 to work as a nurse's aide at the Grande Prairie Hospital. Soon thereafter she met and married John W. (Jock) Coney.
   June is survived by her lifelong partner of 53 years, John Coney; sons: Cortez (Lynn), Kelsey (Rose), Larry (Barb); daughters: Christine (Ron) Thorpe, Lorie (Randy) Kennedy, Vicky Coney; grandchildren: Richard, Ian, Tyler, Bobby Jo, Amber, Dennis, Jason, Richard, Clinton Coney, Margo, Terry Thorpe, Scott, Casey, Lacey Kennedy and Dennis, Staci, Kyra Standage; great-grandchildren: Faith, Teagen, Rain and Dillon; brothers Mac (Dora) Lucas of Whitehorse, Yukon, Larry (Barb) Lucas of Wetaskiwin, Alta., sister Laurane Norstrom of Squamish, B.C., sister-in-law Peggy Robideau  of Grande Prairie, brother-in-law Gord Genz of Rocky Mountain House, Alta.    Funeral services were held this week for Mrs. Roberta Coney of Bezanson and Grande Prairie who died Jan. 13 at the age of 49. Rev. D. Waite officiated at St. Paul's United Church in Grande Prairie. Mrs. Coney is survived by her husband Edward of Grande Prairie, sons Keith of Bezanson, Ricky of Grande Prairie and Brian of Bezanson; daughters Mrs. E., (Marjory) Robideau of Grande Prairie, Mrs. Ray (Jean) Robideau and Mrs. L. (Faye) Gaboury, both of Bezanson; her mother, Mrs. E. Stearn of Clairmont; sisters Mrs. L. (June) Koyalic of Bezanson, Mrs. C. (Cherry) Louden and Mrs. W. (Elsie) Adams, both of Edmonton, and Mrs. Joyce Schmidt of Calgary, and 18 grandchildren.
   Pallbearers were sons Keith, Rick and Brian, and sons-in-law E. Robideau, Ray Robideau and L. Gaboury. Interment was in Glen Leslie cemetery.

Edward "Ted" Coney, 88 of Grande Prairie
   On Thursday, December 3, l992, Mr. Edward "Ted" Coney, long time resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Grande Prairie, at age 88.
   Edward came from Scotland in 1928, and settled in the Fitzsimmons area. He married Roberta Richard in 1932.
   In 1939 he joined the army and moved to Calgary with his family until 1946, when they moved back to the East Kleskun area, where he farmed until his retirement. He then moved to Grande Prairie where he resided until his passing.
   Edward is survived by his loving children: Marjorie Robideau, Jean (Ray) Robideau, Keith (Kay), Fay (Lawrence) Gaboury, Rick (Linda), Brian (special friend Sandi): 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; his brother Hugh (Jennie) Coney of Scotland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
   He was predeceased by his wife Roberta; mother Mary-Ann; father James; step-mother Teen; 2 sisters and their husbands: Mary (Alex) Spiden, and Betty (Clyde) Norton; brother Jim, brother-in-law Ernie Robideau, and infant son Dean Earl.
   Funeral service for the late Edward "Ted" Coney wil be held at St. Paul's United Church, Grande Prairie, at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 8, 1992, with Rev. Vern Begalke officiating. Interment to follow in the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
   Memorial tributes to the Alzheimer's Society, or the charity of one's choice, would be appreciated by the family.

   Faye Gaboury, resident of Salmon Arm, British Columbia and former longtime resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta passed away on Monday, January 10, 2005 at the Q. E.II Hospital in Grande Prairie at the age of 66 years.
   Faye was born on April 9, 1938 in Grande Prairie. She married Lawrence Gaboury on April 29, 1955. The couple farmed on the banks of the Smoky River. They followed the B Track Quarter Horse Race Circuit for numerous years. She was an avid curler and golfer.
   She is survived by her husband Lawrence of Grande Prairie, her children: Jim (Lana) Gaboury of Grande Prairie. Carrie (Bill) Hoy of Calgary, Janet (Darrell) Waldner of Bezanson, her grandchildren: Jason, Shalah, Misty, Melanie, Kellie, Crista, Sandi, Chelsie, and Kyle, her great grandchildren; Savannah, Austin, and Ethan, her brothers and sisters; Marj Robideau, Keith (Kay) Coney, Jean (Ray) Robideau, Rick (Linda) Coney, Brian ( Sandy) Coney as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
   Public visitation will be on Friday, January 14, 2005 from 7-8 p.m. from Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel (10005-107 Ave.) Grande Prairie.
   Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church (10206-100 Ave.) Grande Prairie on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Vern Begalke officiating. Interment to follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. Lunch will follow the interment service at the Bezanson Golden Years Centre.
   Memorial donations will be announced in Friday's paper.

   Lawrence Gaboury, long-time resident of the Bezanson area, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at Mackenzie Place in Grande Prairie at the age of 79 years. Lawrence was born on Jan. 27, 1928 in Grande Prairie. He grew up in the Teepee Creek area, where, with his brother Bud, he participated for many years at Teepee Creek Stampede. (They put new meaning in the Teepee Creek Terror).
   There he met his beautiful wife Faye. The couple farmed on the banks of the Smoky River where they raised their three children. Lawrence is survived by his children; Jim (Lana) Gaboury, Carrie McQuaig, Janet (Darrell) Waldner, his grandchildren; Jason, Shalah, Misty, Melanie, Kelli, Crista, Sandi, Chelsie (Kurtis) and Kyle, his great grandchildren; Savana, Austin, and Ethin.
   He was predeceased by his wife Faye, parents Eugene and Mary and brother Bud.
   Funeral service will be held at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel (10005-107 Ave) Grande Prairie on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vern Begalke Officiating. Interment to follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery with lunch to follow at the Bezanson Legion Hall.

   Marjory E. Robideau, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre, at the age of 84 years. Marj was born March 5, 1933 in Grande Prairie, and was raised in the East Kleskun District. She was educated at the East Kleskun School, then later boarded in Grande Prairie to finish her education. She was the oldest of seven children born to Edward “Ted” Coney and Roberta “Bobbie” (nee Richard). As her grandchildren have mentioned, Mom was one feisty lady. She loved to read, especially Clive Cussler. We made many trips to Beth’s Second Hand Book Store.

   Ernie Robideau passed away on December 25, 2009 at the age of 83.
   He is survived by stepchildren Daniel Gravel, Susan Williams, Linda Best, Judy Bondar, Sharon Gravel as well as his children, friends and numerous relatives.

Jean Patricia Robideau
Jean Patricia Robideau (nee Coney), long-time resident of Grande Prairie and the Crystal Creek area, passed away on November 30, 2013, at the age of 79. Jean was raised in the Fitzsimmons area and attended grades 1 & 2 there before moving to Calgary to attend grades 3-7, then grades 7-8 in the Lindsay School, finishing grade 9 in Grande Prairie, and completing grade 10 by correspondence. Jean married Ray Robideau on November 19, 1952 at the Alliance Church in Grande Prairie. They lived numerous places the first seven years even in an 8X10 foot trailer Dad built, until they purchased their 1/4 section 11 miles east of 4 mile corner. They moved the old Fitzsimmons school to the farm and made it their home in 1960. Jean and Ray raised their family and enjoyed the farm life until May 1997, when they sold and moved into Grande Prairie where they reside now. Jean held several jobs over the years to help raise the family. She enjoyed renovating her many investment properties, which she did until she was 70. Jean's many hobbies included curling, golf, music and visiting with many family and friends. Ray and Jean just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, and were blessed with many friends and family coming over to visit. Jean is survived by her husband Ray; children Sherman (Kathy), Wendell (Myrna), Chris (Cindy), Trudy (Ron Andres), Debbie (Brent Ferris), Charlotte, Janice (Alan Belyan), and Roberta (Jim Meeres); sister Marj Robideau, brother Keith Coney, sister-in-law Louise Kimble, 19 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Jean was pre-deceased by many loved ones.
   A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Monday, December 9th at 1:30 PM at the Grande Prairie Golden Age Centre, 10222 101 Avenue. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.

Ray Robideau
    It is with great sadness the family of Ray Robideau announce his sudden passing at McKenzie Place in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 96 years.
   Raymond Edwin Robideau was born July 12, 1927, in Bezanson Alberta to Edwin and Florence Robideau. Ray was the youngest of five children. He met Jean (Coney) in the community of Bezanson and they were married on November 19, 1952.
   Ray started working for the County of Grande Prairie, in July of 1952, and retired March 1984 at the age of 57 after 32 dedicated years.
   In April 1956, Ray and Jean bought a quarter section East of Grande Prairie in the Crystal Creek area. They stayed there to raise their family of eight children before moving into Grande Prairie, in May 1997, where Ray remained in his home for the next 26 years, until his move to Mackenzie place in April 2023.
   Ray enjoyed dancing with his sweetheart Jean, curling, golfing, horseshoes, camping, and especially family gatherings, where there were always guitars and singing involved!
   Ray was a quiet man, gentle, and always smiling. He was a pleasure to be around.
   He had an immense extended family and numerous friends, who also sadly will miss him.
   Ray will be deeply missed by his children Sherman (Kathy), Wendell (Myrna), Chris (Cindy), Trudy Andres (Gregg), Debby (Brent) Ferris, Charlotte Waldroff, Janice (Allan) Belyan, and Roberta (Jim) Meeres, as well as 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Ray was predeceased by his wife Jean, after 61 wonderful years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his parents Edwin, and Florance, his stepdad Bud Gallant, as well as his sisters Audrey Neuman, Beatrice Fells, Louise Kimble and his brother Albert (Bert) Robideau, and grandchildren Shonie Gillespie, Ryan Ferris, Chad Robideau, and Scott Fermon, and son-in-law Ron Andres.
   A special thank you to the staff at Mackenzie place, Doreen, Donna, Laurie and Rita for the extra care and kindness they showed to our Dad.
   There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date to be announced.
