MENARD Grave Stones

Menard, Grace Sophia: August 13, 1920 - October 20, 2024

 Grace Sophia Menard
Grace Sophia Menard passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the remarkable age of 104 years.
Grace was born in Bezanson, AB, on August 13, 1920. She was the fifth child of eleven to Jerome and Lillie Norton.
She married Wilfred Menard on October 19, 1946, and was married for 62 years, until his passing in 2008.
They had a son, Patrick, who was born on March 17, 1947, and sadly died on March 19, 1947.
Grace was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was very young, so she was mostly home schooled by her mother due to her seizures. When they found a medication to treat her seizures, it was such a blessing.
During her time at home as a youngster, was where she was taught by her mother her many talents as a homemaker, such as sewing, crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking, and canning. She made many beautiful doilies and quilts, which were often given as wedding gifts, to family and friends. All new babies received sweaters and bonnets, which were made with love.
Grace and Wilfred worked many winters at the Norton Brothers sawmill and worked on their farm in the summers. She always had a lovely garden which provided plenty of canned goods.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.
Aunt Grace is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers: Earl, Clyde, Ralph, Fred, and Edwin Norton; and her beloved sisters: Olive Stewart, Ruby Boyer, Stella Kimble, Laura Patterson, and Shirley Boyd.
We would like to thank the staff at the Grande Prairie Care Center and extend a special thanks to the staff as Heritage Lodge where Grace lived for many years before moving to the Care center in 2022.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Grace’s honour on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Bezanson Golden Years Club (10102 - 98 Avenue, Bezanson, AB), with interment to follow at Glen Leslie Cemetery.
Please join us in celebrating the remarkable life of Aunt Grace.
