Edwin Peckham Funeral services were held September 17, for Edwin Peckham of Bezanson. Mr. Peckham died September 13 at Grande Prairie Hospital. He was 80 years old. Born in England, he was the son of John Peckham and the former Sarah Lunn. He had been predeceased by his wife, Emily. Funeral services were held at the Oliver’s Funeral Home, at 10 a.m. Burial was in the Glen Leslie Cemetery, Rev. D.C. Nora Kathleen Newman, 89, of Grande Prairie Nora Kathleen Newman, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly longtime resident of Bezanson, passed away at the Q.E.II Hospital in Grande Prairie on Sunday, December 19, 1999 at the age of 89 years. Nora was born in Milford, England on June 26, 1910. She immigrated to Canada in 1928 with her family, settling in Bezanson where she met and married Oliver Menard. They farmed in the Bezanson area on Oliver's homestead. Nora is survived by her son Albert Menard (Gene) of Westlock, Alberta; daughter Laura (Milo) Sandberg of Prince George, B.C.; nine grandchildren; Dale and Cindy Persson, Brenda (Majid) Ghazvini, Gwen Sandberg, Bill, Larry, Allan, Jimmy, and Evelyn; nine great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Oliver Menard in 1960, her second husband, Percy Newman in 1985; her daughter Claire Persson in 1985; sisters Gladys Rees and Murielle Clauson. By Nora's request there will be no public service held. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Q.E.II Hospital Foundation. Gladys Winifred Rees Mrs. Gladys Winifred Rees passed away at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Wednesday, June 17, 1987, at the age of 74. She was born in Farnham, England, and came to Canada in 1928. She resided in Bezanson until 1982, when she moved to Grande Prairie. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens groups in Bezanson and Grande Prairie. She leaves to mourn, her husband Arthur Rees; daughters: Janet (Dale) Woolsey of Bezanson, and Gwen (Larry) Loewen of DeBolt; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; two sisters: Nora Newman of Beaverlodge, and Muriel Klaussen of Powell River, B.C. Funeral service for the late Gladys Winifred Rees will be held at the Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Saturday, June 20, 1987, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Vern Begalke officiating. Interment to take place at the Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart Fund would he appreciated by the family. Rees Arthur Rees formerly from the Bezanson area passed away at Mackenzie Place on Thursday, March 4, 1999 at the age of 94 years. Art resided in his own home in Grande Prairie until he moved to the Heritage Lodge. Art was born in Llanidlois, Wales and came to Alberta in 1928 and went farming. Art was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Gladys and his son-in-law, Larry Loewen. He is survived by his daughter, Janet (Dale) Woolsey of Bezanson and his daughter, Gwen Loewen of DeBolt, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vern Begalke officiating. Cremation. Special thanks to Dr. Colin Patterson, the nurses at Q.E. II Hospital and staff of Mackenzie Place for their kindness and care of our father, Art Rees. In lieu of flowers if friends and relatives so desire memorial donations in Art's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
