MEYERS, Edwin Nels: April 3, 1927 - October 7, 2011 {also on Boyle grave stone page}

Edwin Nels Meyers
Edwin Nels Meyers   It is with great sadness that family of Edwin announces his passing at the age of 84 years. Ed was born in Grande Prairie on April 3, 1927 to Nels and Alma Meyers. He lived in the Glen Leslie area and also attended the Somme School there. He left after he was hit by the teacher with a pointer. Ed, as he was called by all who knew him, was a peaceful man who worked hard. He could fix anything. In the early 1960s he and his wife Mary Unger homesteaded in the north Goodwin area. This is where he built (like his father before him) his own sawmill and raised quarter horses, and four rambunctious stepsons. He loved the farm and remained there for 40 years before he and Mary moved to Clairmont.
   After his wife died in 2004, Ed took up cooking and was quite proud of himself when he baked and iced his own birthday cake. When he could no longer live alone he moved into Emerald Gardens where he has resided for the last three years. This was an adjustment for him, as he needed to find a new way to stay busy. So he walked every day and visited with other residents. He enjoyed visits from family and friends. Ed is survived by Dale and Gloria Unger, Alan and Veronica Unger, Earl and Marg Unger, Glen and Marlene Unger, and their families.He was predeceased by his wife Mary; his parents Nels and Alma; his brother Carl; sisters Hazel, Ruth and Irene; and one grandson Greg.
   At the request of the deceased, no formal funeral will be held.
   A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
